Untold Struggles
Chapter 6

Things got better for Audrey, and soon both of them got closer in terms of understanding and the relationship, until everyone among their friends have start to guess and rumor about them are slowly and secretly being an item.
...

"Hey, have you been feeling better lately?" Vernon dropped a message to Audrey.

"Yup, much better. Thanks a lot for being there at those moments. =)" Audrey replied

"That's good to hear. Just call me anytime if you need. Anyway, Stephen they all are trying to gather the rest to chill out tonight, are you coming? I will come and pick you up if you want." Vernon messaged.

"Sure, if you offer to, of course I won't mind, LOL!" Audrey wrote.
...

Soon, night arrived. Leading the way, among the crowded pavement, they came to this cozy pub.

"Look, here comes the inseparables" Stephen giggled.

Audrey gave an awkward expression, Vernon threw a piercing stare back at him, and Stephen froze in his own laughter for a second.

"Haha, alright, just a joke man. Chill!" Stephen trying to salvage back the situation.

Time of fun always pass fast, and after much drinking, it was evident that Vernon was getting a bit drunk. Stephen was all out to get him drunk that night.
...
"Hey guys, you all are alright?" Stephen asked in his half-drunken stupor, leaning at the door of the awaiting taxi.

"Audrey, I think you need to get him back home already. He is even more pissed drunk than me." he mentioned, referring to Vernon.

"Ya, don't worry, I will get him home safely, you becareful too. Bye" waved Audrey.

Audrey helped Vernon into the cab.
...
Looking at Vernon, he was in his drunken stupor in the taxi, sleeping soundly on the shoulders of Audrey.

There was a long moment of silence inside that cab.

"Why you drank so much?" Audrey stared at the Vernon who was half asleep, half conscious.

"Because...... happy." Vernon stuttered.

"Happy that you are... alright now" Vernon continued, and fell back to his slumber.

Audrey broke into a wide smile on hearing that.

Untold Struggles
Chapter 5

They came to the arcade and Vernon went to the counter and came back with one big bag of coins.

“Everytime when I’m feeling down, coming here always works for me.” Vernon mentioned, “Come, let’s play my favorite game.” Vernon dragged Audrey to the basketball machine.

Even though Audrey at first really do not have much mood to play with Vernon, but after awhile, she really felt a lot better, especially after Vernon continuously influencing her with his joy, care and concern. They spent the whole day at the arcade, from the basketball machine, to the dancing machine, the racing game, toy catcher, etc, etc. Gradually, both of them were having a whole lot of fun with one another, laughing at the little silly things they did in the arcade.

While walking her home under the late night, “Thanks for being there and brightening up my mood today, I really enjoyed myself today and had a lot of fun. Thank you.” Audrey said to Vernon.

“Well I had fun today too, and the most important thing is that you are feeling better, and that is good enough already.” Vernon smiled, “but well, even if that didn’t work, I always have another way to make you laugh”

“Which is?” Audrey puzzled.

Vernon went to Audrey and whispered into her ears “that is…..” and suddenly tickled her on her side, and ran while laughing away. Audrey twitched and started laughing, and chased after him, trying to get her “revenge”.

Audrey tried to tickle him back, and in the end, Vernon laughed and held on to her hands so that she won’t succeed in it, and thus holding on to her hands all the way until her house, in order to not let her tickle him.

Staring out of the window in her room…

“I tried to forget about him, I tried so hard, I thought I could do it. But everything that I do just seems to remind myself about him even more. Why must I be so weak, I told myself to not to think about him anymore, but I just couldn’t!”

“You are not weak, I believe you can do it, just that you need time. It takes time to heal, just know that you are not alone. I know it is not going to be easy, that is why I will always be around. If not, I also won’t be here now, right?”

Audrey felt touched in her heart by the words of Vernon, realizing that someone who no matter what, will be there for her in these hard times. With this, she knew she is being treasured.

Unspoken Struggles
Chapter 4

The streets are totally deserted in the early morning, with the sky above her painted a very light blue hue, Audrey slowly strolled back to her home. Her emotions were in a mess, even though she really had a lot of fun, but when she is all by herself, her mind wandered again. She was reminded of all the similar fun times she had with her ex-boyfriend.

Each step she took, tears uncontrollably fell, and her heart experiencing that familiar persistent heart wrenching pain.

A few days later, Vernon just knocked off from his work, and he received a call from Audrey.

“Hey Vernon, you knocked off already? Are you free now?”

“Ya, I just knocked off, and I don’t have anything on, why?”

“Want to ask if you can accompany me, I just don’t want to be alone, I now at Ang Mo Kio.”
Vernon listened to her voice and can hear that she was crying.

“Hey, are you alright? I come over right now.”

Vernon rushed over to Ang Mo Kio immediately after the call.

As he saw her from afar, he hurried towards her. It was very obvious that she had cried rather badly. She was leaning against the railing, looking daze, her eyes were red and teary still, from all the crying.

Vernon went up to her, “Hey, what happened? Are you alright? Anything just tell me alright?”

Audrey looked up at him with her teary eyes, she was trying to hold back her tears.

“I tried to forget about him, I tried so hard, I thought I could do it. But everything that I do just seems to remind myself about him even more. Why must I be so weak, I told myself to not to think about him anymore, but I just couldn’t!”

With that, Audrey knew she can’t hold back her tears anymore, an outburst of emotions, Audrey hug onto Vernon and started crying uncontrollably.

At that point of time, Vernon’s heart really went out to her, his heart ached when seeing her in such a state. He told himself that he will do anything just to make her smile again.

“You are not weak, I believe you can do it, just that you need time. It takes time to heal, just know that you are not alone. I know it is not going to be easy, that is why I will always be around. If not, I also won’t be here now, right?” On hearing that, Audrey stopped crying and looked up at Vernon.

“I know what can we do, come, I bring you to a place.” Vernon suddenly thought of an idea. He held on to her hand and pulled her along, squeezing their way through the crowd. Audrey for a moment she really feel that she was not alone going through this.

Unspoken Struggles
Chapter 3

“Thank you sir, 2 tickets for Monsters vs. Aliens at 11.40 p.m. and that will be in total 20 dollars”

“Looks like we have like 2 hours plus to kill, I think we go grab a bite first, I’m so hungry after a day’s work” Vernon mentioned.

Sitting at MacDonald’s, while grabbing a bite, they had a long heart to heart talk.

Apparently, Audrey was really upset due to relationship problems that she was experiencing – she just broke off with her boyfriend not long ago. Even though Audrey always put on a strong front in front of other people, she chose to keep everything that she had been going through and struggling to herself.

Vernon sat beside her, not saying any word, and just be her listening ear for that 2 hours.

Soon it was time for their movie to start.

The movie was great, both of them were laughing throughout the comedy. At least, it gave an opportunity for Audrey to lighten up her mood, and definitely they shared laughter together.

And soon, the movie ended, looking at his watch, Vernon realized it was already 2am already. Making the way through the back exit of the cinema, and the exit finally leading them back to shopping centre again.

They were thinking what they should do then. Suddenly, Audrey thought of an idea, “Hey, why not we catch another show like, now?” Audrey grinned as she suggested that to Vernon.

Vernon thought for a moment and smiled “Hey, movie marathon!? Why not, haha? But I think we better hurry, by this time the last show should be playing already.”

Both of them quickly ran to the ticket counter, looked at the information display, and realize the last show had just started like 15 minutes ago, and it is the other comedy that they wanted to watch very much. Well, such a coincidence that things just fell nicely in place. They looked at each other and grinned.

They quickly got their tickets and Vernon grabbed Audrey’s hand and pulled her along and ran for towards the cinema, as the show had already started.

And after another round of good laughter, the show ended around at 4 plus in the morning.
There is already no other mode of transport left to go home, other than taxi, and the sun is going to rise in like another 2 hours time. Making their way out of the empty shopping centre, they really had a great and crazy night together. But looks like it won’t be ending just like that, even though feeling tired, Vernon accompanied Audrey for breakfast at a 24 hours prata shop near Bugis.

They walked all the way there and ate breakfast while still happy talking about the 2 movies they watched just now, laughing at the jokes from the movies.

And soon they finished their breakfast and walked back to the MRT station in town, and sat right outside the MRT station, talking to each other while waiting for the 1st train to send Audrey home. They sat down there until soon, daybreak, as the sky slowly turn brighter, into a light shade of morning blue. Finally, it is 6.30 am.

They got on the first train and Vernon accompanied Audrey to send her home before taking another bus from Audrey’s area back to his home even though it is totally out of the way.

Finally a crazy and eventful night came to an end, well, there is a price to it, Vernon felt totally exhausted. But before turning in, Vernon thought back of all that happened over the night, and wore a smile before falling asleep. I guess the reward Vernon felt he received is incomparable to price he paid. It was priceless.

Unspoken Struggles
Chapter 2

“Hey Vernon, I make a move first, meeting up with my girlfriend for dinner, see you.” Vernon’s colleague waved as he walked away.

Looking at his watch, “It’s only 8pm,” Vernon thought to himself, “and it’s a Friday, where should I go after this? I do not want to go home that early after all.”

Thinking of all the possible things he can do, suddenly he felt a craving to go catch a movie, but with who? And who will be willing to come down immediately at such an impromptu invitation?

Vernon started to scroll through his contact list in his handphone, skimming through the names, thinking of who to call. Suddenly, it came to the name – Audrey. Vernon thought to himself for awhile, and then decided to call her out.

The other end starts to ring for awhile, and Audrey picked up the phone.

“Hey Audrey, Vernon here, you keen to come down for a midnight show? I am currently in town now.” Vernon asked.

“Hmm,” Audrey thought for a moment, I’m fine with it, but you give me around like an hour’s time to be there.”

“Alright, no problem, give me a call when you have reached.” Vernon replied.

……

Vernon went to grab himself a cup of coffee at Starbucks while waiting for Audrey. He sat down on the little cosy couch, sipping his coffee.

As he was trying to kill time while waiting for Audrey’s arrival, he was deeply in thoughts. He thought back of the university days, the time when he got to know Audrey from.

He got reminded that, during then, there was a period of time, he was attracted to Audrey, but due to the fact that, he felt that there was no breakthrough in the friendship he had with her, he gave the idea up in the end. Maybe it can really be considered as fate that they met back again this time.

Being occupied in his reminiscing of the past, before he knew it, an hour had passed, and suddenly, his phone rang. Looks like Audrey has just arrived.

“Hey, sorry to keep you from waiting for so long.” Audrey said.

“Haha, it’s alright, I was the one who asked you down in such last minute.” Vernon smiled.

Unspoken Struggles
Chapter 1

It’s too late to apologize… It’s too late… It’s too late to apologize… It’s too~……” Vernon picked up the phone, it was a text message

“Hey bro, it’s ladies night tonight! So are you going down? It is going to be a big party I promise” Stephen wrote in the text.

Vernon read the message, and without any hesitation, replied “Of course man, I’m not called a party animal for nothing. See you there.”

……

Soon, night falls, and it was party time…

The taxi pulled over right outside the club, and the queue was already full of people. “Looks like it is going be a great night…” Vernon thought to himself.

Stepping right inside the club, Vernon saw the whole club was filled with people, some drinking, some on the dance floor.

Making his way to his table, Vernon realized that a lot of his friends had already come down. Vernon saw Stephen, “Wow you got the whole world down tonight?”

“Told you that I promise it is going to be a great party” Stephen smirked.

Everyone was enjoying themselves, happily drinking away, playing some drinking games, having good laughs, and soon the vibe start to kick in, as the effect of the alcohol starts to be in action.

Vernon and the rest made their way to the dance floor, and dance the night away, until 1am.
......

After all the dancing, Vernon and Stephen went to sit at the bar, to take a rest and have a drink…

Vernon was chatting with Stephen, when suddenly, Stephen said “Hey bro, I think there is a girl looking at you over on your right… I realize she had been looking at you for quite sometime already….”

Vernon turned and saw the girl Stephen was talking about, and true indeed, there is a girl looking at his direction.

......

When he saw the girl, she is a tall and charming lady, he was shocked, it took some reaction time for him to realize the girl who was looking at him, was actually his close friend from his university days, Audrey!

The both of them were so surprised to see each other, they gave each other a big long hug, as they really had not been seeing each other for the longest time they could imagine.

“Hey, how come you are here?” Vernon asked, still in his shock.

“Haha, I am down with my friends, it has been eons since I last came clubbing. Never know I will see you here, I thought I saw someone who looks like you, and it was really you. Haha” replied Audrey.

“So how have you been?” asked Vernon excitingly, trying to catch up with his long lost friend.

So it was after the mini-catch up, both of them got to one corner and started to continue drinking and continue to get to know how each other had been.

And soon they got back to the dance floor and continue to dance the night away till lights on...
I deleted my previous story as I feel it is not going towards the direction I wanted it to go... And most importantly I was stuck in a hiatus, as I could not find any inspiration to write on...

But I am now currently working on something...
I believe it is going to be great...

Ya so sorry for the long wait... It is coming soon...
