Unspoken Struggles
Chapter 3

“Thank you sir, 2 tickets for Monsters vs. Aliens at 11.40 p.m. and that will be in total 20 dollars”

“Looks like we have like 2 hours plus to kill, I think we go grab a bite first, I’m so hungry after a day’s work” Vernon mentioned.

Sitting at MacDonald’s, while grabbing a bite, they had a long heart to heart talk.

Apparently, Audrey was really upset due to relationship problems that she was experiencing – she just broke off with her boyfriend not long ago. Even though Audrey always put on a strong front in front of other people, she chose to keep everything that she had been going through and struggling to herself.

Vernon sat beside her, not saying any word, and just be her listening ear for that 2 hours.

Soon it was time for their movie to start.

The movie was great, both of them were laughing throughout the comedy. At least, it gave an opportunity for Audrey to lighten up her mood, and definitely they shared laughter together.

And soon, the movie ended, looking at his watch, Vernon realized it was already 2am already. Making the way through the back exit of the cinema, and the exit finally leading them back to shopping centre again.

They were thinking what they should do then. Suddenly, Audrey thought of an idea, “Hey, why not we catch another show like, now?” Audrey grinned as she suggested that to Vernon.

Vernon thought for a moment and smiled “Hey, movie marathon!? Why not, haha? But I think we better hurry, by this time the last show should be playing already.”

Both of them quickly ran to the ticket counter, looked at the information display, and realize the last show had just started like 15 minutes ago, and it is the other comedy that they wanted to watch very much. Well, such a coincidence that things just fell nicely in place. They looked at each other and grinned.

They quickly got their tickets and Vernon grabbed Audrey’s hand and pulled her along and ran for towards the cinema, as the show had already started.

And after another round of good laughter, the show ended around at 4 plus in the morning.
There is already no other mode of transport left to go home, other than taxi, and the sun is going to rise in like another 2 hours time. Making their way out of the empty shopping centre, they really had a great and crazy night together. But looks like it won’t be ending just like that, even though feeling tired, Vernon accompanied Audrey for breakfast at a 24 hours prata shop near Bugis.

They walked all the way there and ate breakfast while still happy talking about the 2 movies they watched just now, laughing at the jokes from the movies.

And soon they finished their breakfast and walked back to the MRT station in town, and sat right outside the MRT station, talking to each other while waiting for the 1st train to send Audrey home. They sat down there until soon, daybreak, as the sky slowly turn brighter, into a light shade of morning blue. Finally, it is 6.30 am.

They got on the first train and Vernon accompanied Audrey to send her home before taking another bus from Audrey’s area back to his home even though it is totally out of the way.

Finally a crazy and eventful night came to an end, well, there is a price to it, Vernon felt totally exhausted. But before turning in, Vernon thought back of all that happened over the night, and wore a smile before falling asleep. I guess the reward Vernon felt he received is incomparable to price he paid. It was priceless.

Unspoken Struggles
Chapter 2

“Hey Vernon, I make a move first, meeting up with my girlfriend for dinner, see you.” Vernon’s colleague waved as he walked away.

Looking at his watch, “It’s only 8pm,” Vernon thought to himself, “and it’s a Friday, where should I go after this? I do not want to go home that early after all.”

Thinking of all the possible things he can do, suddenly he felt a craving to go catch a movie, but with who? And who will be willing to come down immediately at such an impromptu invitation?

Vernon started to scroll through his contact list in his handphone, skimming through the names, thinking of who to call. Suddenly, it came to the name – Audrey. Vernon thought to himself for awhile, and then decided to call her out.

The other end starts to ring for awhile, and Audrey picked up the phone.

“Hey Audrey, Vernon here, you keen to come down for a midnight show? I am currently in town now.” Vernon asked.

“Hmm,” Audrey thought for a moment, I’m fine with it, but you give me around like an hour’s time to be there.”

“Alright, no problem, give me a call when you have reached.” Vernon replied.

……

Vernon went to grab himself a cup of coffee at Starbucks while waiting for Audrey. He sat down on the little cosy couch, sipping his coffee.

As he was trying to kill time while waiting for Audrey’s arrival, he was deeply in thoughts. He thought back of the university days, the time when he got to know Audrey from.

He got reminded that, during then, there was a period of time, he was attracted to Audrey, but due to the fact that, he felt that there was no breakthrough in the friendship he had with her, he gave the idea up in the end. Maybe it can really be considered as fate that they met back again this time.

Being occupied in his reminiscing of the past, before he knew it, an hour had passed, and suddenly, his phone rang. Looks like Audrey has just arrived.

“Hey, sorry to keep you from waiting for so long.” Audrey said.

“Haha, it’s alright, I was the one who asked you down in such last minute.” Vernon smiled.

Unspoken Struggles
Chapter 1

It’s too late to apologize… It’s too late… It’s too late to apologize… It’s too~……” Vernon picked up the phone, it was a text message

“Hey bro, it’s ladies night tonight! So are you going down? It is going to be a big party I promise” Stephen wrote in the text.

Vernon read the message, and without any hesitation, replied “Of course man, I’m not called a party animal for nothing. See you there.”

……

Soon, night falls, and it was party time…

The taxi pulled over right outside the club, and the queue was already full of people. “Looks like it is going be a great night…” Vernon thought to himself.

Stepping right inside the club, Vernon saw the whole club was filled with people, some drinking, some on the dance floor.

Making his way to his table, Vernon realized that a lot of his friends had already come down. Vernon saw Stephen, “Wow you got the whole world down tonight?”

“Told you that I promise it is going to be a great party” Stephen smirked.

Everyone was enjoying themselves, happily drinking away, playing some drinking games, having good laughs, and soon the vibe start to kick in, as the effect of the alcohol starts to be in action.

Vernon and the rest made their way to the dance floor, and dance the night away, until 1am.
......

After all the dancing, Vernon and Stephen went to sit at the bar, to take a rest and have a drink…

Vernon was chatting with Stephen, when suddenly, Stephen said “Hey bro, I think there is a girl looking at you over on your right… I realize she had been looking at you for quite sometime already….”

Vernon turned and saw the girl Stephen was talking about, and true indeed, there is a girl looking at his direction.

......

When he saw the girl, she is a tall and charming lady, he was shocked, it took some reaction time for him to realize the girl who was looking at him, was actually his close friend from his university days, Audrey!

The both of them were so surprised to see each other, they gave each other a big long hug, as they really had not been seeing each other for the longest time they could imagine.

“Hey, how come you are here?” Vernon asked, still in his shock.

“Haha, I am down with my friends, it has been eons since I last came clubbing. Never know I will see you here, I thought I saw someone who looks like you, and it was really you. Haha” replied Audrey.

“So how have you been?” asked Vernon excitingly, trying to catch up with his long lost friend.

So it was after the mini-catch up, both of them got to one corner and started to continue drinking and continue to get to know how each other had been.

And soon they got back to the dance floor and continue to dance the night away till lights on...
I deleted my previous story as I feel it is not going towards the direction I wanted it to go... And most importantly I was stuck in a hiatus, as I could not find any inspiration to write on...

But I am now currently working on something...
I believe it is going to be great...

Ya so sorry for the long wait... It is coming soon...
